A & N UTGST Department conducts search and seizure operation in Swarajdweep Islands

Port Blair, Feb 04: Andaman & Nicobar Islands UTGST Department conducted search and seizure operation in Swarajdweep Islands on 5 Hotels & Resorts. During Search and Inspection, it was found that these firms are huge tax defaulters and are indulged in several tax-evasion activities varying from wrong availment of Input Tax Credit; Non-payment of tax to the government; non-filing/delayed filing of the mandatory statutory returns without paying appropriate returns and mis-declaration under the head zero-rated supplies which pertains to export of goods and services in order to evade tax.

The department of UTGST, Andaman & Nicobar Islands appeals to all such persons/firms do not avail in-eligible tax credit and pay the tax collected to the government as well as file their mandatory returns with-in due time to avoid any legal action that may be taken against them under GST Act, otherwise demand of tax along with appropriate interest and penalty against such tax payers will be raised and action for recovery of the same will be initiated accordingly.

The Department also appeals to people do not indulge in any tax evasion activities by way of wrongful/mis-declaration in the GST returns, as the same when detected by the department shall attract punitive as well as penal actions on them.
