AATO demands opening of Jolly Buoy and Red Skin Islands on all days

Port Blair, April 10: The Andaman Association of Tour Operators, the leading body of Andaman’s Tour Operators, has demanded opening up Jolly Buoy and Red Skin Islands, which are known for coral beauties, on all days for the convenience of the visiting tourists.
In a letter addressed to the officials of Forest Department, the AATO President, Mr. M. Vinod said that the association had taken up the matter with the Lt. Governor in December 2017 regarding problems faced by tourist due to certain rules and regulations of Forest Department.
Responding to the AATO’s request, the Forest Department had clarified that atleast one day is required for maintenance of boats, visitors’ amenities, life jackets, snorkeling sets, glass bottom boats etc.
Responding to the Forest Department’s logic, the AATO said that in the previous years, permissions were given to boat operators to ply on Monday too, during Peak Seasons by the same department and that time too the boats that ply, remained the same with alternate day arrangements.
The Forest Department had also issued extra permits during peak tourist seasons, which was of a great help to the visiting tourist.
The Association also explained that various other tourist spots like Cellular Jail, Light & Sound Show, North Bay are functioning on all days of the week to facilitate the visiting tourists especially during peak season.
It was also pointed out that the demanding of ID proof from all members of tourist family who are visiting Jollyboat Red Skin at the time of issuing permit at tourism counter too should be done away with.
In Andaman and Nicobar Islands some different tourist spots remain closed on different days, which not only creates confusion for visiting tourists but also causes loss to local tourism industry.
