Port Blair, June 03: Wearing helmet for two wheeler rider and pillion rider is mandatory as per section 129 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, Rule 114 of A & N Islands Motor Vehicle Rules, 2006 and in compliance of the direction of Supreme Court. Meanwhile, aIl two wheeler riders as well as pillion riders are once again advised by Traffic Police to wear protective headgear (helmet) conforming to the Bureau of Indian Standards so as to avoid any penal action. The persons of Sikh community wearing turban are exempted from the provision of this section.
