All India Seminar on “Technologies for Identification, Tracking and Neutralization of Unauthorized Drones” by NDRF


Port Blair, Nov 03: The National Design and Research Forum (NDRF) of The Institution of Engineers (India), Bengaluru is organising an All India Seminar on Technologies for Identification, Tracking and Neutralization of Unauthorized Drones at the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), IISc Campus, Bengaluru during 23-24 November 2017.
In the current scenario, Drones play an important and major role in our economy but if their operations are not properly regulated, these Drones can pose serious threat to the security of our country and privacy of citizens. Several ethical and legal questions arise due to these unauthorized uses of Drones. This is the lacuna and the weak link in Drone operations in the Country, which is the same concern all over the world.
This concern has also been expressed by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Airport Authority of India (AAI), Civil Airline operators, defence and security agencies of the Country including police, with respect to threat they pose if they are not regulated. The questions that arise therefore are which technologies have to be developed & implemented, which are the agencies and who should regulate the operation of identifying, tracking & neutralizing unauthorized Drones effectively all over the Country, but still commercially exploit the potential of this technology.
