Andaman Airways granted NOC to Commuter Air Transport Services for A&N Islands

Port Blair, Feb 01: A local Island based company named “M/s Andaman Airways (P) Ltd” has been recently granted NOC to operate Scheduled Commuter Air Transport Services for the Union Territory of A&N Islands by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, G.O.I. M/s Andaman Airways is also the first company to be recognized as an Startup company for providing services in passenger transportation through air-link for A&N Islands under PM Narendra Modi startup initiatives under Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, New Delhi, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, G.O.I .
The Managing Director of the company Mr. M. Nadeem Siddiqui have informed that the company Andaman Airways has embarked on an ambitious and unique project with the single-minded objective of empowering the Islands with better connections in remote areas using aviation to link and develop A&N regions creating new air routes for commute of passengers and economic growth. The promoters of Andaman Airways have11 years experience in aviation field in Port Blair area, A&N Islands in the areas of providing ground handling infrastructure and allied services to various airline operators in VSI Airport, Port Blair. These new air routes/links would enable trade flows stimulate economic growth, give impetus to tourism and create jobs for the youths of these Islands.
Andaman Airways with a tag line “Wings of the islands” plans to provide schedule commuter transport services in all the 9 tehsils comprising of 70 panchayats of A&N districts & other rural tribal areas which are underserved or unserved or not adequately connected with surface or sea transportation through use of either Helicopter, sea planes and small fixed wing aircrafts etc for growth of tourism and remote connectivity.
The Andaman Airways is also setting up its first Heliport and its own repair and maintenance yard which will also provide parking and servicing facility and storage of essential spares and tools to cater to both preventive and breakdown maintenance requirements of the company. This yard will be spread in an area of 107739 Sqft located in Ferrargunj Tehsil, South Andaman district which is about 40 kms by road from nearest Veer Savarkar International Airport. The proposed maintenance and repair facility at Andaman Airways Heli yard will provide routine and basic repairs & maintenance initially and will in a phased manner cater to major repairs and overhaul requirements of helicopters in this A&N region.
To take Project forward, discuss its project plans and seek necessary guidance, a delegation of Andaman Airways have recently met the senior officials of Ministry of Civil Aviation , G.O.I including Mr. R.N Choubey , Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, and have assured the ministry to commence its operations at Port Blair in the shortest possible time after grant of NOC.
