Andaman and Nicobar Command Observes World Environment Day


Port Blair, June 05: The “World Environment Day” campaign announced by the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi was undertaken by the Andaman and Nicobar Command on 05 Jun 18.
The Campaign included tree plantation by respective units. A demonstration of waste management was conducted by Defence Wives Welfare Association (DWWA) on the Segregated Waste Management. Additionally, Coastal cleanliness drive was carried out at Corbyn’s Cove, Wandoor and Chidyatapu beaches.
The outlying units also carried out Coastal cleanliness drive at Diglipur, Carnicobar, Hutbay, Kamorta and Campbell Bay. At Andaman and Nicobar Command Headquarters the “World Environment Day” was observed by plantation of tree sapling by Major General Beji Mathews, Chief of Staff Andaman and Nicobar Command, towards achieving a healthier and pollution free environment.
