Port Blair, Dec 06: The India Reserve Battalion, A&N Islands celebrated its 15th Raising Day at Parade ground, Police Lines on 03/12/2017. An impressive ceremonial parade consisting of 4 platoons of marching contingents with police band headed by AC Naveen Kumar as Parade Commander was held, in which Ms. Nuzhat Hassan, IPS, DGP, A&N Islands was the Chief Guest who took the salute of the ceremonial parade. Around 200 Police personnel of A&N Police/IRBn participated in the grand event.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief guest lauded the services of the Battalion personnel. The IRBn was raised in the year 2002 to secure these Islands from internal & external threats. Presently, the IRBn is being deployed at various important duty points like Look Out Post, Jarawa Protection Posts, Anti-Poaching Operations etc, vital installations of the Islands such as Raj Niwas, Marine Dockyard, Helipad and Open Distress Camp etc. Besides, the IRBn are being engaged for Law & Order duties to assist the local police, which include VVIP visits, protest/demonstration and other important duties.
Further, the Chief Guest congratulated the IRBn marching contingent for securing first position in the Republic Day Parade -2017 at A&N Islands, and in the Independence Day Parade held at Puducherry (UT). The chief guest concluded the speech by expressing best wishes to all IRBn staff. The Raising Day celebration was held under the supervision of Ms. Amrutha Guguloth IPS, Commandant, IRBn.
