CIARI Scientists Demands Implementation of 7th CPC

Port Blair, Mar 01: Agricultural Scientists of Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI), Port Blair went on a peaceful protest on 1st March 18 to demand for implementation of 7th CPC and 5 working days a week.

Scientists of ICAR are the major contributors in the saga of Green, white, blue revolution. They have been working incessantly to serve the nation’s food security and welfare of the farming community in the backdrop of climate change and the dwindling resources viz., insufficient manpower and research funding. Government of India has already given approval for the implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations. However, it is not been implemented while most of the central government workforce of the nation including all scientific organizations have been drawing their revised salary emoluments as per the Seventh Pay Commission for more than a year including the ICAR except the scientists fraternity.
The local unit of scientists’ forum at ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair also submitted a memorandum to the Director, CIARI to facilitate early action on the genuine demands submitted .

Similar peaceful demonstrations were held all over the country by the Agricultural Research Service Scientist of Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
