Coast Guard conducts first time ever Women’s Night at Campbell Bay to Commemorate International Women’s Day


Port Blair, Mar 09: First time ever women night dedicated for women of all age groups of Campbell Bay as part of International Women’s Day was organised under aegis of Coast Guard dist headquarters no. 10 (N), Campbell bay and Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association (CGWWA) as a special community interaction programme dedicated to local women of Campbell bay on08 Mar 18 at Coast Guard Public School in which around 150 women student & ladies attended from far of places such Shastri Nagar 35km.

The event was conceptualized by only armed force lady officer Assistant commandant Preeti Poswal posted in Nicobar region and Mrs Hemali Kushwaha, President Tatrakshika. The event begun with the cake cutting ceremony. Followed by screening of famous Bollywood movie “Dangal” showcasing women empowerment.

Interactive games gave opportunity to local/ self-help groups/ tribal women& others to showcase their talent/ confidence on stage in a true spirit of the motto behind celebrating women day.They displayed their talent voluntarily by dancing/ singing etc& expressed their views on women empowerment.This facilitated mingling of women from fisher folk, self-help group, shop owners, tribals community women etc with women working in government organisation such as forest, agriculture, fishing community,school teachers of govt schools, Health centre, post officeincluding Coast Guard.

The highlight of the function was on the spot “Photobooth”facilitating taking away sweet memories forever prior departing in form of photo-frame.

They thanked Coast Guard for giving this exclusive opportunity to women of Campbell Bay and expressed their desire towards continuation of such dedicated CIP as a real opportunity towards empowering women upto grassroot level of society.
