Port Blair, May 06: Indian Coast Guard conducts massive awareness programmes on ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ at various remote places in A&N Islands including Diglipur, Hut Bay, Kamorta, Mayabunder, Campbell Bay and Sippi Ghat on 05 May 18. The aim of the event was to create awareness among masses to save and educate girl child and also to enlighten about the innumerable schemes, Act and laws for welfare, protection and right of female/girl child. The service has been effectively contributing not only towards Prime Minister’s social campaign of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ but also aims to generate awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services intended for girls.
The event was conducted by Coast Guard Station Diglipur at Gram Panchayat hall, Aerial bay in coordination with Anganwadi and social welfare department. Representatives from cooperative bank also attended the event for explaining Pradhan mantri’s savings yojana schemes. Coast Guard Station Hut Bay along with Coast Guard ship C- 150 conducted the event for the residents of RK Pur, Little Andaman and Coast Guard Station Mayabunder undertook the awareness campaign along with Interceptor Boats & Coast Guard wives welfare association (CGWWA) at Lucknow village , Mayabunder. Coast Guard Ship Aruna Asaf Ali conducted the awareness programme at Kamorta and Coast Guard Ship Rajveer undertook the campaign at Sippi Ghat. Coast Guard woman officers delivered lectures on numerous GoI schemes for the welfare and right of woman and girls children. Insurance schemes launched by Govt. of India viz Pradhan mantri suraksha bima yojana and Pradhan mantri jeevan jyoti bima yojana were emphasized. Coast Guard District Headquarters No. 10 also actively participated in the awareness campaign on 05 May 18 to promote various schemes of Govt. of India flagship programmes.
