Port Blair, Jan 18: Coast Guard Region (A and N) organised an Inter School Painting Competition on 17 Jan 18 as part of 41st Raising Day Celebrations of Indian Coast Guard with the theme ‘Sankalp se Siddhi’ towards Clean India. The event was aimed at creating awareness amongst the students about the importance of ‘Clean India Campaign’. Such small but significant steps would have a tremendous effect on nation building by invoking active participation at the grass root level for flagship programmes initiated by the Government of India. The innovative thoughts that reverberated in the painting of the children were a sign of inclusion of correct civic habits into their day to day activities.
The competition drew enthusiastic participation and a total of 175 school students showcased their creativity and talent. The event witnessed greater participation by girls than the boys. A total of twelve prizes were distributed in three separate categories classified on the basis in which children were studying. Winners in various categories were adjudged by a panel of qualified Arts Teachers from various schools and apposite prizes were awarded to boost up their confidence. It is to emphasis that most of the winning positions achieved by the girl students, reflect the positive effect of Govt. of India Flagship Programme ‘Beti bachao Beti padhao’.
