Coastal Security Exercise Sagarkavach

Port Blair, Mar 29: To test the preparedness of various security agencies and stakeholders, a joint comprehensive Coastal Security Exercise namely ‘SagarKavach’ (a bi-annual exercise) will be held in Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 3rd and 4th April 2018 involving altogether 17 agencies like Indian Coast Guard, Indian Navy, A & N Police, PMF, Forest, Fisheries, Port Management Board, Directorate of Shipping Services, IRBN, CISF and Customs besides A & N Coastal Security Intelligence agencies. In the exercise, the alertness and preparedness of all stakeholders will be checked.
The Coastal Security exercise is being conducted under the supervision of Chief Secretary, A & N Administration and is conducted and coordinated by Joint Operation Centre (JOC) of A N Command and Indian Coast Guard, Regional Coastal Security Operation Centre (RCSOC), A & N Region.
As part of the exercise, the A & N Police has made arrangements for maintaining surveillance and patrolling in and around various Out Posts/ Look Out Posts, besides in the jurisdiction of all 21 Police Stations in A&N Islands. Special beat/foot patrolling at high end establishments will be undertaken. Besides, Fisherman Watch Group meetings will be held and briefed on the importance of coastal security and also the private security engaged at various establishments have been sensitized to remain in alertness and maintain high security standards at all times. Special security arrangements will be set up during the exercise.
The General Public, owners of Hotels/Restaurant/Shop keepers etc. and fisherman are requested to inform any sensitive / suspicious activities related to this exercise on Coastal Security Helpline Number 1093/1554 or at your nearest Police Station. Besides this, all information related to crime can be informed to Police Control Room number 100/232100/238260/245577 or at your nearest Police Station.
