DC (SA) inaugurates Stumper Cricket tournament


Port Blair, Jan 08: The inaugural match of the RSC T10 Stumper Cricket titled ‘Boom Boom Challenger Trophy-2018″ was held today at Port Blair Velodrome, near Netaji Stadium. The Deputy Commissioner (SA), Mr. Udit Prakash Rai inaugurated the tournament. The tournament will be held up to first week of February 2018.
After inaugurating the tournament, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the players and urged them to play the games in the true sportsman spirit. He said that such sports tournaments will help the youth to stay fit & healthy and also provide the youngster better entertainment opportunities. By taking part in such sports tournaments, the youth can also keep themselves away from indulging in activities which not good for them or the society. Today only one match was played. The inaugural match was held between SHIFA XI, South Point and USC, Bamboflat in which USC Bambooflat won the match by 10 runs. The Secretary of Education, Mr. A Gopi Krishna would not attend the function due to some unavoidable reason.
Earlier, the General Secretary, RSC, Mr. K Ganeshan welcomed the chief guest and others. He presented the chief guest with a shawl as mark of felicitation. He also briefed the gathering about the tournament. Mr. Ganeshan has also expressed his sincere thanks to all the agencies which had helped to organize the tournament, including the Sport Department.
