DDMC/DISHA Meeting held under the Chairmanship of Member of Parliament


Port Blair, July 06: A District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DDMC) /DISHA meeting was held on 30.06.2018 at 4:00 PM in the conference hall of Zilla Parishad (SA) under the chairmanship of the Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, A & N Islands to review all the 29 Centrally Sponsored Schemes being implemented by different departments of A & N Administration.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Udit Prakash Rai,IAS (Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District) and Ms.Kirti Garg, IAS (Deputy Commissioner, N & M Andaman), Mr. Krishan Kumar, DANICS, CEO, Zilla Parishad (SA), and by all the Head of the departments. The Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman District)/ Member Secretary (DISHA) presented a power point presentation reflecting all the 29 CSS being monitored under DISHA.
The Chairman, DISHA mainly discussed on the topics related to Electricity, water, road, agriculture and education and directed all the concerned departments/authorities to initiate action to provide electricity, water, agricultural facilities and road in all the remote areas through CSS.
The Chairman expressed his concern on the quality of education system prevailing in the remote Islands of A & N Islands and he discussed on the points related to quality education, recruitment of teachers, introduction of vocational courses in intermediate classes in collaboration with Kamaraj English Medium School and Ummat Public Senior Secondary School and also emphasized on changing the transfer policy for teachers posted at Southern group of Islands.
The Chairman appreciated Secretary (RD) for his immense contribution in implementing NRLM scheme in these Islands. It was also decided to convene a meeting with BSNL to sort out the network problem faced all the time by the residents of A & N Islands and also to convene a meeting with the head of Agriculture department, Fisheries department and Veterinary department in District Level. At last, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Chairman stressed on the need to enhance the wages of ASHA workers and to have transparency in procuring Medicines under NHM.
