Five More Ships to Join Coast Guard A&N Fleet on 13th April 18

Port Blair, Apr 12: Understanding the enhanced safety and security requirements of these pristine Isles, Coast Guard Headquarters is strengthening the fleet strength of A&N Region by rebasing six more ships at Andaman & Nicobar in current year 2018. Out of these six vessels five are joining on 13 April 18, which include two Fast Patrol Vessels and three Interceptor Boats.
These ships will be based at Port Blair, Kamorta and Diglipur. This augmentation of Coast Guard surface assets will surely enhance the reach and efficiency of Coast Guard in undertaking array of assignments, which Coast Guard is responsible in maritime zones associated with A&N islands. An induction ceremony will be held at Coast Guard jetty at Haddo, Port Blair wherein Shri Anindo Majumdar, IAS, Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar will welcome these ships as Chief Guest of the ceremony and dedicate them to the service of A&N Islands.
The Indian Coast Guard Region (A&N) has earned laurels for it’s swift and optimally calibrated response to numerous challenges in past and has continued to register all round growth whilst beholding the Isles confidence in delivering maritime challenges and imperatives obligated upon Coast Guard. This region has been able to meet the expectations of mariners at large in ensuring safety of life and property at sea, which is going to be more robust with rebasing of new assets. The Coast Guard in collaboration with A&N Administration is taking it as a challenge to develop support infrastructure and logistic support for new assets, for their optimal utilisation and swift deployment even to remotest corners of A&N.
