Port Blair, Feb 20: Mr. Sanjay Kumar Jain, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands paid his maiden visit to Police Training School, Prothrapur, after assuming the charge of Inspector General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He inspected the premises of Police Training School and also interacted with the trainees/participants, who are presently undergoing 05 days training course on ‘Safety of Women’ at Police Training School. The course on ‘Safety of Women’ is being organized by Police Training School in collaboration with Bureau of Police Research & Development.
Addressing the gathering, the Inspector General of Police highlighted the importance of empowering the Police personnel with the required professionalism, in terms of knowledge, skills and attitudes, for dealing with the cases of crime against women and for ensuring adequate women safety. He also responded to the questions raised by the participants on various issues such as preservation of biological evidence, sensitivity towards complainant/victims of crime, effective and visible patrolling, examination of witnesses, Court procedures etc.
Prior to this, Smti. Usha Rangnani, IPS, Principal, Police Training School welcomed and briefed the Inspector General of Police about the infrastructure and functioning of Police Training School through a Power Point Presentation. Mr. Michael Raj, DANIPS, Vice Principal (PTS) and other officers of Police Training School also remained present during the entire visit of Inspector General of Police.
