Port Blair, June 10 : The President of Jan Kranti Party (JKP) Andaman and Nicobar, has requested the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to resolve the issue of payment of salaries to the staff of various schools as well as recognition of these schools well before beginning of new secession.
In a letter to the Lt. Governor the JKP President, Colonel K V Cherian (Retd) said that recently the Administration de-recognised large number of schools for various reasons of not following the new norms, which has been introduced recently.
“Here, we want to bring to your notice that these schools are not engaging themselves in any unlawful of harmful activity, but they are helping the Government to improve the literacy of the population in a noble way of running the schools. And if you notice all most majority of these educational institutions are run by minority communities as part of their missionary activity and through their meager resource of donated funds and has been in this noble profession since years. And now, all of a sudden bringing in new rules and regulations and declaring them un-recognized and stopping their grants which was being given by the government does not seem to be a right decision in the interest of the society,” Colonel (Retd.) Cherian added.
Colonel (Retd.) Cherian added that in one such case the teachers of Nirmala School had gone on Dharna staging protest for the non-payment of their salary for the last three months on 7th of this month.
