JNRM professor honoured by Baasbhumi Sahitya Samman at West Bengal

Port Blair, May 07: Dr. Jyotirmoy Roychowdhury, HOD, Bengali, JNRM has been honored by ‘Baasbhumi Sahitya Samman award -2018’ for his contribution to the field of History, Literature and Cultural anthropology yesterday on 6th May by the Baasbhumi Sahitya Patrika and CCAI (Chandra Commercial and Art Institute) of Berhampore, West Bengal at the ‘Baasbhumi Utsav -’18’ which took place at the Rabindra Sadan auditorium of the City.
Dr. Roychowdhury was one of the six recipients of this prestigious award this year. Mr. Sandip Dutta, renowned activist of little magazine movement and Mr.Shanti Ranjan Deb, researcher in the field of Archaeology have been felicitated by life time achievement award.
Dr. Roychowdhury has been garlanded by Uttariya and received a written memento (describing his works and activities) along with a trophy from the hand of famous poet of Bengal Mr. Utpal Kumar Gupta on this occasion.
A colourful cultural program was also staged by talented artists who were invited from various part of the state. Mr. Bidhan Chandra Dey , poet-writer from Tripura , Poet Samarendra Biswas from Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, Abul Hasnat, renowned researcher of West Bengal, Poet Prasanta Guha Mazumder of Maldah ,W. B have also been honored by the Baasbhumi Sahitya Samman symultaneously.
