Jolly requests LG to reissue of sugar under the PDS subsidy scheme

Port Blair, Mar 07: The State President of BJP A&N Islands Mr. Vishal Jolly has written to the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands regarding reissue of sugar under the PDS subsidy scheme to the APL beneficiaries. It was mentioned in his letter that, till 2017 the poor and labour class APL card holders were issued sugar at the rate Rs. 13.50 per Kg through PDS.

On withdrawing sugar subsidiary scheme, the rate of sugar hiked to Rs. 55 per Kg in the open market and the rate of sugar is also not uniform throughout A&N Islands.

During the Karya Vistar & Ghar Ghar Sampark Abhiyan, majority of households raised the sugar issue before the party members. Mr. Jolly requested the Lt. Governor to look into this matter on the public interest to reissue sugar and introduce to Pulses & Edible oil under the PDS subsidy scheme.
