Jolly urges ANIIDCO to hike Milk Procuring Price for welfare of farmers

Port Blair, Feb 12: Mr. Vishal Jolly, State President A&N BJP urged The Chairman, ANIIDCO to hike the Milk procuring price from Rs. 40 to Rs. 50 per Liter for small farmers.
In his letter mentioned that, the dream of good income on white collar jobs and charm on western culture led to decline on Indian agriculture and its allied sectors.
“Due to its impact, Dairy Farms and Milk production have highly decreased in A&N Islands. The Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi promoted White Revolution Mission with various Schemes to create opportunity to rural population and to bring socio-economic reform on Agriculture and its Allied Sectors. The results, the farmers and rural areas youths are resumed to focus on Agri-based sector particularly in dairy farms,” Jolly said.
The milk production from areas, adjacent to Port Blair and inter Islands is increasing day-by-day. The local consumers are ready to pay Rs. 70 per liter for fresh cow milk to farmers but the ANIIDCO is only paying Rs. 40 per liter to the farmers and selling the same at Rs. 60 per liter in the open market with a margin of Rs. 20 per liter.
“Low income yield will de-motivate the farmers to continue the business and pull down the White Revolution Mission in A&N Islands,” Jolly said.
In a view of protecting the interest of the small farmers and unemployed youths of rural areas (Milk producer), he urged the Chairman, ANIIDCO to hike the Milk procuring price from Rs. 40 to atleast Rs. 50.
