Port Blair, Dec 06: In view of the inclement weather condition continuing for the last few days, with a well-marked low pressure area over South East Bay of Bengal, the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, Admiral D.K. Joshi (Retd.), PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM today visited the Directorate of Disaster Management, Port Blair and took stock of the disaster management preparedness of the Islands. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Anindo Majumdar, Director General of Police, Smt. Nuzhat Hassan, Principal Secretary (DM&RR), Shri S.C.L. Das and the Dy. Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Udit Prakash Rai were also present on this occasion.
A Power Point Presentation regarding the current weather situation as well as complete Disaster Management Preparedness was made before the Lt. Governor. The Lt. Governor also inspected the infrastructure created in the State Emergency Operation Centre (State Control Room) at the Directorate of Disaster Management. Besides making few suggestions for better space utilization, the Lt. Governor whole heartedly appreciated the disaster management preparedness of A&N Islands. Earlier, the Lt. Governor was received by the Director, Disaster Management, A&N Administration, Shri Govind Ram.
