M.P Raises Soil Health Card issue with Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare

Port Blair, Apr 09: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, M.P. Andaman has raised the issue with the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare for implementation of the “Soil Health Cards Scheme of Govt. of India” for the welfare of the farmers of this UT Islands.

In reply to the above, Mr. Trilchan Mohapatra, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture& Farmers Welfare vide his letter dated 03.04.2018 informed that, analysis of 2000 nos. samples had already been completed within the prescribed time framed and the Soil Health Cards have been distributed in the larger interest of farmers and other stake holders of A & N Islands.

It has been further communicated that the Central Island Agriculture Research Institute (CIARI), Port Blair has conducted awareness programmes on Soil Health Cards Scheme of the Govt. of India for sensitizing the farmers of each three districts of A & N Islands.

The Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare has also assured to M.P. for taking all possible efforts for extending the scientific and technological support for sustainable food & nutritional security and also to fulfil the dreams of Hon’ble Prime Minster Mr. Narendra Modi to double the farmer’s income in A & N Islands.”
