I am happy to know that the “World Environment Day” is being observed on 5th June 2018 in these Islands together with rest of the country and the World, on the theme “Plastic Pollution” to create mass awareness on challenging environmental concerns due to littering and unsafe disposal of plastic products.
We are fortunate that these Islands are blessed with bounties of nature with unparalleled greenery, rich biodiversity and a variety of ecosystems. Plastic pollution that involves accumulation of plastic products adversely affected wildlife, its habitats, human health, living organisms, marine animals etc. The Andaman & Nicobar Administration is making all efforts to minimize the harmful effects of these harmful plastic materials in order to protect and conserve the Islands in its pristine state.
On this occasion, I thank Islanders for their valuable support and cooperation and urge to reaffirm our commitment for protection of our environment and do collective efforts to reduce plastic footprints so that our future generation enjoys a healthier and pollution free environment.
