Naval NCC Cadets Bring laurels for Islands in Republic Day Camp-2018 at New Delhi

Port Blair, Feb 08: Two Naval NCC Cadets, M. Bhaskar, POCDT and Ashish Kumar Singh, POCDT of 1(AN) Naval Unit, NCC represented Andaman and Nicobar Islands at Republic Day parade at New Delhi on 26th Jan brought laurels to the islands. These cadets took part in various selection camps over the past 03 Months commencing 15 Nov 17 at Coimbatore before attending the RD Camp- 18 at New Delhi. 04 Cadets of Naval NCC Wing of JNRM College represented Andaman & Nicobar Islands were nominated to undergo several selection process commencing 16 Nov 17, out of which these 02 Cadets were selected to represent Islands under the aegis of NCC Directorate (Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andaman & Nicobar)
NCC Directorate (TN, P, A&N) was declared Overall Runners-Up Champion Directorate trophy for year 2017-18 at All India level competitions conducted amongst 17 NCC directorates during Republic Day Camp 2018 at New Delhi. The Directorate also won maximum number of trophies this year in team events. The cadets of the Directorate also won 09 Gold Medals, 09 Silver Medals and 08 Bronze medals in various events. The Directorate also won 08 DGNCC commendations.
Lt Commander Jagatheesh Pandian, Commanding Officer of 1 (AN) Naval Unit, NCC along with other staffs and their family members were present at Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair to receive the cadets. The Commanding Officer, congratulated the cadets and expressed his heart felt gratitude to Commodore Vijesh K Garg, VSM, Deputy Director General, NCC Directorate (Tamilnadu, Puducherry, Andaman & Nicobar) for the support and motivation given to the cadets and to the unit. He also mentioned that, this would not have been possible without the inspiration provided Deputy Director General, whose vision and commitment has always been to develop the National Cadet Corps in this island. The Commodore has always been providing huge support in all possible means to the both the NCC units at Port Blair.
The Commanding Officer has also mentioned that, the unit is in discussion with the UT Administration for providing cash prizes for the Cadets who represented the islands at RD Parade 18, in a facilitation ceremony to appreciate their hard work and dedication, In order to motivate and encourage other aspiring youths to achieve more and bring laurels to these islands in every field.
