NSS-JNRM Organises Youth Convention on New India Mission

Port Blair, Apr 02: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit No. 1 of Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya organized a Youth Convention on the theme “New India Mission” at JNRM on 31st March 2018. In this convention students from DBRAIT, ANCOL, ANIIMS and JNRM Participated and spoke on the topic Swachch Bharat Abhiyan , Our Role in making a New India, Development of our Islands-My Vision and Drug addiction a Menace.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief guest Smti Sheela Singh, Ex-Chairperson of PBMC ,said this convergence of students on the theme “New India Mission” will be a welcome start and the message has to reach to each and every person of these islands ,particularly to the youth so that a new India emerges. She said that our islands can be a model of the new India which our Prime Minister has visualised to be accomplished by the year 2022.Dr.B.GangaIah,Head Natural Resource Management Division,of CIARI, Port Blair Spoke on the Roadmap of new India.
Dr.N. Francis Xavier Principal, JNRM,also spoke on the occasion about the role of students and NSS Volunteers in the New India Mission. In the speech competition Ms. Sherin from ANIIMS, Ms.Shivani from ANCOL , and Mahua Mistry from JNRM were given the prizes for best speaker on the topic- Development of our Islands-My Vision , Our Role in Making New India and Swachch Bharat Abhiyan–Our Role respectively while Emant Junjunwala from ANIIMS was give prize for his speech on Drug addiction a Menace.
Earlier the Programme Officer Dr.Kandimuthu in his welcome speech highlighted the importance of this convention as a part of NSS activity. A NSS Volunteer Ms.GracyTripathi moderated the event and proposed vote of thanks.In this students Convention representatives of all the colleges together took a pledge for Making a New India.
