Port Blair, Feb 08: The Sangeet Natak Akademi North-East Centre, Guwahati, Regional Centre of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India in collaboration with Kala Kendra Society, Department of Art & Culture, Andaman & Nicobar Administration is organizing PURVOTTAR DHARA – a festival featuring artistes from North-eastern States and Andaman & Nicobar Islands from 9-11 February, 2018 at 6.30 pm onwards during Andaman Bazar at ITF Ground, VIP Road, Port Blair. During the three days festivals, presentation of folk art forms such as Yak and Monpa Folk Dances of Arunachal Pradesh, Sattriya, Bihu and Bodo folk dances of Assam; Raas and Thang-Ta of Manipur; Wangala and Garo folk dances of Meghalaya; Cherraw (Bamboo Dance), Chhailam, Solokia and other folk dances of Mizoram; Folk dances of Nagaland; Bhutia folk dances of Sikkim and Hozagiri and Lebang Bomani dance of Tripura would be held. Apart from this, folk presentation by local cultural troupes from Andaman & Nicobar Islands would also be held. The entry to the programme is free and open to all.
