Rabindranath Tagore remembered : Befitting programmes organized to mark the celebration


Port Blair, May 9: The 158th birthday Biswakabi Rabindranath Tagore was befittingly celebrated in the Islands today. AS such, Andaman Sangeet Academy had organized a cultural programme, titled ‘Rabindra Sandhya’ in the auditorium of Anthropological Survey of India Port Blair, in which the Chief Secretary, Mr. Anindo Majumdar was the chief guest while the Adhyaksha Zilla Parishad South Andaman Smti Baby Fareeda also graced the occasion. A variety of colourful cultural programme was presented by the artists of Academy on the occasion.

Earlier, the Academy also organized a rally from the Municipal Commercial Complex Junglighat, which was flagged of by the Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council, Mr. I P Singh. The rally enrouted to Goalghar, Bengali Club, Govt. Model School, Clock Tower and culminated at Marina Park infront of Rabindranath Tagore statue.

Similarly, the birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated at TGCE in which, the Principal, TGCE, Dr. J.D. Singh along with the staff garlanded the bust of Tagore and offered floral tributes to the noble laureate.
