“Rahtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day)” observed in North & Middle Andaman District

Port Blair, Nov 01: In order to Commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also observed as National Unity Day (Rashtriye Ekta Divas), on 31st October, 2019, A ‘Run for Unity’ was organized by the District Administration, North & Middle Andaman in coordination with the Gram Panchayat, Pokkadera; Police, Education and Medical departments. More than 100 participants including students, police personnel and people from all walks of life participated in the event. The Run started from Danapur Junction and culminated at Netaji Sports Complex, Mayabunder. The Assistant Commissioner (HQ), Sh. Mohan Kumar, DANICS flagged of the event. Prizes were also distributed to the participants.On the occasion, garlanding and paying of floral tributes to SardarVallabhbhai Patel was organized in the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Mayabunder which was followed by the administration of ‘Pledge of Unity’ to all the staff of DC Office by the Deputy Commissioner, N&MAShri Awanish Kumar, IAS. The same was also administered in the Assistant Commissioner’s Offices and subordinate offices of Diglipur and Rangat tehsil.Later, a cultural programme was organized at Zilla Parishad Community Hall, LalTikery by the Gram Panchayat, Pahalgaon. The Deputy Commissioner, N&MA was the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest highlighted the contribution of Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel in the integration of the country and in the nation building. He urged all to do away with all the barriers, be it political, cultural, or social that hinder the real integrationof our country and our hearts. The PRI members of Pahalgaon Panchayathave expressed their gratitude to the Chief Guest.
