Port Blair, May 26: Eminent Bengali Film Actress Papiya Adhikari (who was on a 5-days’ duration tour to these Islands along with Mr. Bhagaban, Founder of International Vedanta Society, Kolkata) visited Aditya Natya Academy (ANA), a reputed Bengali theatre-organisation of the city, on 24 May evening and graced a cultural get-together arranged in her honour.
The programme commenced with welcoming the distinguished guests. Mr. Bhagaban was garlanded by Mr. Ashutosh Karmakar, President of ANA. Smt. Shampa Sarkar presented floral bouquet to Papiya Adhikari. Thereafter, the first part of the cultural programme – clad with songs, poetry-recitals, dance etc. was presented by Master SrijitRoychowdhury, Aanchal Halder, Shampa Sarkar, Meena Mondal, Dipen Saha, Nandalal Debsharma, Sujata Roychowdhury among others. Mr. Chittaranjan Roy, retired teacher as well as veteran yatra-actor presented a brief report on Bengali cultural movement in A&N Islands. The second part of the programme included spiritual speeches delivered by Mr. Bhagaban and Papiya Adhikari; and presentation of ‘naam-kirtan’ in chorus.
The programme ended with vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Anadi Ranjan Bhattacharjee, General Secretary, ANA. The entire programme was co-ordinated by Mr. Anadiranjan Biswas, Life-Member, ANA, a release from ANA, General Secretary said.
