Shadipur area gets open stage

Port Blair, Mar 14: In a simple function held today on 14.03.2018 at Shadipur, Ward No: 10 a toilet blocks for gents and ladies and a stage was inaugurated by Mr. Indra Pal Singh, Chairperson, PBMC, in presence of Smti Sheela Singh, Ward Councillor. Smti Vinitha Malhothra, SVC, Mr. K. Ganeshan, Mr. SNN Gregory, senior officials of the Council and general public from ward no. 10 11 and 12 were also present on this occasion. On construction of the toilet blocks the devotees of the laxminarayana temple can avail the facilities. This was the long pending demand of the temple committee to construct a toilet blocks in that area. During the inauguration of the stage at Shadipur ward No. 10, Mr. S. Ganeshan, Executive Engineer (Wks) PBMC informed the gathering about the estimated cost of the toilet blocks and the stage viz Rs. 6.33 lakhs and Rs. 2.56 Lakhs respectively. Mr. Indra Pal Singh Chairperson informed the gathering that due to the continuous and dedicated efforts of the Councillor and the staffs of the Council, the projects was able to complete in a time bound manner.
While speaking on the occasion Smti Sheela Singh, Councillor exhorted that it was a long pending demand of the area populace that to construct a stage so that small functions etc can be arranged in upright mode. Earlier small functions were organized in the open space due to lack of such facilities and residents were facing immense problems due to rain and scorching sun. Further, she appealed the populace that the Council has constructed the facilities and handed over to us to avail the benefits and to keep the same in safe and clean. The Council is making its efforts to make the city clean and green; we may also set a perfect example of community involvement and showing everyone how it doesn’t require any civic workers to help keep the place clean. She has rightly asserted that keeping clean the surroundings should be a combined effort of both the Council as well as the people. Every citizen of the area should take it upon himself to make this area clean rather than waiting for the PBMC to do. She further stated that a bus shed adjacent to the stage was renovated and further beautification of the asset will be carried out by involving the school children as done by the Ravindra Bangla Vidhyalaya. The students set a perfect example by painting the bus shed so that the same will be kept clean and their participation to the keep the city clean and green. The function ended with vote of thanks proposed by Smti Sunitha Sharma.
