Six poachers arrested from Jarawa Reserve Area

Port Blair, Apr 10: 06 poachers have been apprehended for entering and indulging in fishing activities in the Jarawa Reserved Area by the Joint Patrolling Team of Andaman & Nicobar Police, AAJVA and Forest Department on 05/04/2018.
The poachers namely G. Yadav Rao (29 yrs), G. Vallabha Rao (42 yrs), V. Yadav Rao (42 yrs), C.H. Bhaskar Rao (50 yrs), G. Eswar Rao (54 yrs), Sorudu Yogeswar Rao (54) yrs all R/o Junglighat were indulging in fishing activities with one engine dinghy & 01 Oar dinghy at Hiran Tirkey. Consequently, they were arrested U/s 7/8 of PAT Regulation 1956. The engine dinghy bearing Reg. No. IND-AN-SA-MO-542 and Halish dinghy bearing Reg. No. IND-SA-NM-235 along with other fishing & ration articles were seized.

The general public, especially the fishermen community, is advised to refrain from entering into or indulging in fishing activities in the prohibited areas (Jarawa Reserve Areas) failing which strict legal action will be initiated against them. Any information in this regard may be passed on to Police Control Room (Ph: 100, 232100), PMF Control Room (1093, 239247) or PS Ograbraj (Ph: 03192-224934). The identity of the informer would be kept secret.
