“Swachh Sagar Abhiyan” Indian Coast Guard

Port Blair, Apr 08: Indian Coast Guard conducts massive beach clean ship drives at various places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands including Campbell bay, Mayabunder and Port Blair during the week end 07-08 Apr 18 towards Government of India flagship Programme “Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan”. The service has been effectively contributing not only towards Prime Minister’s visionary steps of clean Indian Campaign but also has taken step towards ”Swachh Sagar Abhiyaan”. Coast Guard Ship Rajveer undertook the clean ship drive at Junglighat sea shore on 08 Apr 18 where as Coast Guard Ships C-407 & C-414 conducted the clean up drives at Campbell bay beaches on 07 Apr 18. Coast Guard station Mayabunder also actively participated in the clean ship drive at Pokkadera beach Mayabunder.
The event was conducted by Indian Coast Guard personnel where in approximately 600 kgs of garbage was collected and handed over to concerned civil administration for disposal. The event was witnessed and applauded by locals to the extent that locals extended a helping hand towards cleaning the area. During the drive, banners and placards were displayed to sensitize the visitors against polluting the pristine beaches of the islands. The event was a great success as the garbage laden area was converted into a spic and span beach. Indian Coast Guard Region (A&N) is poised to realized the goals of the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ and cleanliness drives are being conducted regularly towards the flagship programme.
