Vacancies of around 45 posts of Nursing Officers affecting quality of Health Service: NGGOA

Port Blair, July 02: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association had conducted a meeting of members of the Nursing fraternity of Health Department at Port Blair on 01st July, 2018. Nursing Officers(Staff Nurse) and Senior Nursing Officers working at various hospitals at South Andaman area attended the meeting. The meeting expressed serious concern over delay in filling-up of a large number of vacant posts of Nursing cadre. The meeting noted that the vacancies of around 45 posts of Nursing Officers are affecting the quality of service to the islanders. The Department is delaying the promotion of Nursing cadre on the plea of one or other reasons. It was pointed out in the meeting that the promotion posts of 15 Senior Nursing Officers and 02 Matrons are lying vacant. The meeting demanded immediate filling-up of all vacant posts of Nursing Cadre in the interest of the people of these islands.

The meeting also adopted a number of resolutions which include (i) Timely granting of financial upgradation under MACP Scheme (ii) Opening of a B.Sc. Nursing College at Port Blair (iii) Workstudy of Nursing staff for the creation of more posts in Nursing cadre. (iv) Implementation of uniform transfer policy etc.

Mr. T.S.Sreekumar, General Secretary, Mr. R.Rajendran and R.Surendran Pillai, Asst. General Secretaries and Mr. S.L.Vinjit of NGOs’ Association attended and addressed the meeting.
