Workshop on “Administrative Vigilance” conducted at PMB

Port Blair, Nov 02: As part of the on-going Vigilance Awareness Week – 2017, a Workshop on “Administrative Vigilance” was conducted at Port Management Board, Port Blair on 1st November, 2017. Officers and staff of PMB attended the Workshop which was inaugurated by Cdr Mohan Kumar.B, Harbour Master. Addressing the gathering Cdr Mohan Kumar.B called upon the employees to be honest and sincere while performing their duties. He emphasised the need to have more transparency in the official dealings so that corrupt practices at any stage can be checked. He stressed the importance of having a disciplined and dedicated workforce in every organisation. Cdr Mohan Kumar answered a volley of questions raised by the participants in the Workshop.

Initiating the discussion, Mr. D. Ayyappan, Nodal Officer (Court Cases), PMB, elaborately explained the root cause of corruption, the legal framework available in the country to check corruption by public servants. Referring to this year’s theme for the Vigilance Awarness Week “My Vision – Corruption Free India”, Mr. Ayyappan said that a society which is corrupt cannot develop and fullfill the aspirations of all sections of the people. He referred to the initiative taken by the government to contain corruption in public service and requested all the employees working in PMB to set an example for others with utmost transparent manner of official work in a very honest manner.

Mr. Nadeem Ahmed, Manager (Cargo Op.) and Smt G. Sheeba, Asst. Accounts Officer and staff participated in the discussion. A large number of employees working in PMB attended the Workshop which was organised at the Conference Hall of PMB.
