7 bootleggers arrested, 49 IMFL bottles seized in South Andaman

Port Blair, Oct 25: As part of its efforts to wipe out the nuisance of illegal sale of liquor and bootlegging, the team of PS Central Crime Station carried out special raids in South Andaman area recently and recovered 49 bottles Indian Made Foreign Liquors (IMFL). Altogether 07 persons namely M. Murgeshan, 31 yrs R/o Junglighat, R. Palaniappan, 26 yrs. R/o Junglighat Seashore road, C. Boomiraja, 48 yrs. R/o Haddo, M. Anand, 25 yrs. R/o Shadipur Krishna Nagar, R. Ayyappan, 45 yrs. R/o Dairy Farm, M. Srinivas Rao, 37 yrs. R/o Nayagaon and A. Muthu, 45 yrs. R/o Phonix Bay were arrested and 07 cases under excise Regulations have been registered against them. Police will continue to fight against this menace to eradicate the illegal trade of illicit liquor and IMFL from this Union Territory.
The general public have been requested to inform any credible information pertaining to gambling, illegal sale or possession of liquor/drugs or any other illegal activity on the following telephone numbers- 100, 232586, 9474290250 & 233307. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
