FIR lodged against CCWS for illegal storage of Excess Crackers

Port Blair, Oct 19: On receiving a complaint regarding unauthorized/Excess storage of crackers, go downs of Central Co-operative Welfare Society at Sippighat, Prothrapur and Dollygunj were raided by a team of District Administration led by SDM, South Andaman and found storage of 6698 kg crackers against the license of 2000kg thus violating section 9B (1)(b) of Explosive Act 1884.
Since this action on part of CCWS is not only hazardous but also likely to endanger public security and safety, an FIR has been lodged with Police Station Pahargaon under relevant provisions of IPC, Explosive Act & Rules framed there under. Further Joint Chief Controller of Explosive, Kolkata has been asked to cancel the Explosive license granted to CCWS.
All the license holders of Crackers/Explosives are hereby directed to follow licensing conditions scrupulously and desist from hazardous practices which may endanger public safety. Strict action will be taken against the defaulters.
