Port Blair, March 21: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Mr. Anindo Majumdar visited Mayabunder yesterday. The Chief Secretary along with DC (N&MA), SP (N&MA), AC, Middle Andaman, CEO, Zilla Pariahad (N&MA), Adhakshya, and Up-Adhaksha, Zilla Parishad (N&MA) and other local heads of offices visited Hanspuri located within the jurisdiction of Mayabunder Tehsil and interacted with school students, teachers and general public. He also visited medical sub-centre, school, anganwadi and inspected the mid-day meal kitchen facility at Hanspuri.
The Chief Secretary heard the grievances of the general public who raised some demands mainly related to construction of road from Bajota to Hanspuri, acute shortage of teachers in GMS Hanspuri, quarter for teachers, police personnel, connectivity of mobile network, TV and AIR signals besides demanded for boat service from Hanspuri to Mayabunder. The Chief Secretary directed the concerned Departments to look into the matter and take necessary action immediately.
Later, the Chief Secretary visited Chainpur village and interacted with general public where they raised issues like shortage of staff at sub-center Chainpur, Panchayat Ghar at Bajota which is located on the way to Hanspuri, issue of road, water treatment plant, bridge through Zilla Parishad, and hostel for students of Hanspuri. They also demanded for establishment of Post Office. On completion of visit, the Chief Secretary returned to Port Blair today.
