KVK, N & M Andaman organised training for In-service candidates and Extension Functionaries


Basantipur, Mar 14: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (CIARI), North & Middle Andaman organised a three days training programme on “Optimization of production efficiency of livestock cum fish integrated farming systems” for In-service candidates/ extension functionaries at community hall, Office of the Gram Panchayat, Basantipur w.e.f. 12/03/18 to 14/03/18. The programme was inaugurated in presence of Chief Guest Smt. Sebastian Lakra, Pradhan Gram Panchayat, Basantipur, and Guest of Honour, Smt. Beena Rao, Sarpanch/ PRI-Member, Gram Panchayat, Basantipur; Dr. R. K. Singh, S.V.O., Swadeshnagar; Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Senior Scientist & Head/ Course Director, KVK, Nimbudera. In the inaugural session, Smt. S. Lakra thanked the KVK, Nimbudera for organising programmes for In-service candidates/ extension functionaries. She told that such programmes will help the field staff to update their technical knowledge and skill, and thus will prove useful to solve the problem of farmers at field. In the technical session, Dr. B. L. Kasinath discussed on the status of integrated farming system in N & M Andaman. On the occasion, Dr. R. K. Singh delivered lecture on the concept of “Integrated farming system”. In the three days training programme, Dr.Shashikala, SVO, Webi discussed on the topic related toscientific designing of livestock fish IFS models, Dr.Parag, SVO, Basantipur highlighted the recent advances in livestock production and management under integrated farming system, Er. Manoj Kumar and Mr. D. Basantia discussed on the topic of animal waste management, and Dr. Shardul Vikram Lal dealt with advances in composite fish culture. In addition to the guest lectures, documentary films on model livestock-fish integrated farming system were also showcased, and pre and post evaluation test were conducted for the participants. A total of 20 Inservice candidates/ extension functionaries (09 males and 11 females) from Department of A. H. & V. S.; CDPO Unit, Rangat; ACANI, NGO, and Panchayati Raj Institution were benefitted from the programme. This programme was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Senior scientist & Head, ICAR-KVK, N & M Andaman, and Dr. A. Kundu, Director, ICAR-CIARI.
