Port Blair, Dec 28: To create awareness on the importance of feed based aquaculture among the Island farmers, ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI) conducted field day at various places of North and Middle Andaman namely Nimbudera, Keralapuram and Ramnagar during 23-25 December under the guidance of Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, ICAR-CIARI. During the programme, availability of island based feed ingredients; feed preparation methods, feed storage and broadcasting methods were demonstrated on-field to the farmers by Mr. T. Sivaramakrishnan, Scientist (Fish Nutrition). On-going feeding trail at selected farmer’s field were also explained to the farmers. The queries raised by the farmers were addressed by the experts namely Mr. K. Lohith Kumar and Mr. A.K.O. Ratheesh, Scientists. The programmes were successfully conducted with association of KVK, North and Middle Andaman and ORC, Diglipur. A total of about 33 farmers (Nimbudera-13; Keralapuram-13 & Ramnagar-7) including 23 male and 10 female attended the programmes.
