ABVP celebrates Foundation Day: New Education Policy to open up many avenues for students: CS

Port Blair, July, 9:  The Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarti Parishad (ABVP), A&N Islands celebrated its foundation day today, also observed as National students Day, by honoring the toppers of class 10 & 12 with ‘Vivekananda Vidhyarti Prathiba Samman 2019’. A function was organized at the TGCE Auditorium wherein the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Mr. Chetan B. Sanghi as the chief guest gave away trophies and certificates to the students who came out with flying colors in the class 10 & 12 Board exams.

 

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary said, the new National Education Policy (NEP) formulated by the Govt. of India will bring a sea change in the education sector in the country. The New Education Policy will open up many avenues for the students in the future, the Chief Secretary said, exhorting the students to work hard, stay healthy and move forward to achieve success.

 

The Chief Secretary further stated that the students studying in mainland should not forget the Isles and come back to serve the Islands. The students will get many opportunities in these Islands itself within the next four to five years, the Chief Secretary said advising the students to start their self employment ventures. He urged the parents to motivate and generate confidence in children. The Chief Secretary also felicitated the Principals of the schools which produced good results. He also congratulated the ABVP for organizing the programme to motivate the students.

 

In his address, the Resident Acharya, Chinmaya Mission, Swami Shuddhanand Saraswati urged the students to get inspiration from the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. He also cautioned the students to stay away from social evils especially the drug abuse.

 

Welcoming the chief guest and proud parents present in good numbers, the President ABVP A&N Islands, Dr. Santhosh Kumar Jha informed that the ABVP came into being on July 9, 1949 and the Port Blair Unit of ABVP started functioning from 1995. At present ABVP is having 40 lakh workers and selfless service to the nation is their identity, he added. The function concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by the Secretary ABVP, Mr. R. Raja Shekhar.
