Deep Depression over West Central Bay of Bengal likely to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm

Port Blair, Oct 09: Yesterday’s Depression over East Central Bay of Bengal moved west-northwest wards, concentrated into deep depression and lay centered at 0830 hrs IST, 9th October 2018 over West Central Bay of Bengal near latitude 14.7°N and longitude 87.1°E, about 560 km southeast of Gopalpur (Odisha), 510 km southeast of Kalingapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and 720 km northwest of Port Blair. It is very likely to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm during next 24 hours. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards for some more time and then northwestwards and cross Odisha & adjoining north Andhra Pradesh coasts between Gopalpur & Kalingapatnam around morning of 11th October. It is very likely to re-curve northeastwards, move towards Gangetic West Bengal across coastal Odisha and weaken gradually.
Rainfall very likely to occur at many places on 09.10.18 over Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Local Cautionery Signal No. III is replaced by Distant Cautionary Signal No-I at Port Blair Ports.
