Port Blair, Jan 22: The Andaman and Nicobar Police celebrated a week long programmes on the occasion of Police Week 2021. To mark the occasion, various programmes were organized by the police stations of North & Middle Andaman District. As part of the celebration cleanliness drives were organized at police station premises, market areas and beaches of their concerned PS jurisdiction.  Visits were organised for the school children, in which they were told about the basic functioning of the police station and familiarize with the police work. During the occasion Plantation drives were carried out at police stations in which around 350 tree saplings were planted during the week. Further, various awareness programmes were also organized by the police stations to sensitize the local youths about Drug Abuse, Traffic rules and regulations, preventive measures on COVID-19, ATM fraud and Cybercrime. Similarly, an awareness programmes were also organized at school level especially for the girl students in which they were made aware of POCSO Act and Good Touch, Bad Touch with the help of counsellors from District Child Protection Unit. While organizing the programmes, all the precautions related to COVID-19 were strictly followed.
