Port Blair, Feb 11 : Acting on a compliant received regarding unhygienic and dumping of waste in drains and nearby areas in Kanyapuram Gram Panchayat under Ferrargunj Block in the South Andaman District, the Directorate of RD, PRIs and ULBs, Andaman and Nicobar Administration mobilized the grass root level functionaries and cleared the garbage within 24 hours. Large amount of waste in the form of Plastic bottles, MLPs, Glass bottles etc. were recovered and sent for further processing.

The accumulation of garbage in the area is found to be because of throwing of waste in open drains. The general public is hereby requested to avoid dumping of waste in open areas and handover the waste to the sanitary workers of the Gram Panchayat. Further,  information in respect of unattended and untreated dumping of waste in rural areas may be sent to the Directorate through email to for immediate redressal.
