Port Blair, Nov 1: Kannada Sangha (Reg No. 14/1972/corrp./05) donated Rs 1, 00,000/- (Rupees One Lakh only) towards “LG Relief Fund” as humanitarian gesture on the occasion of Karnataka Formation Day, i.e. the 1st November. The cheque was handed over to Admiral D.K. Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) Lt Governor by office-bearers of the Association, Mrs Geeta Naveen Bhat, Mr. C B Nachappa, Mr. M P Muthappa and Mr. Naveen Chandra Kumar.
As on date an amount of Rs.1,71,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Seventy One Thousand Only) has been received as contribution from General Public during the financial year 2018-19,Mr. M. Paul Raj, Port Blair-Rs. 70,000/- Mr.Haripada Das, Agartala, Tripura-Rs.1,000/- Kannada Sangha, Port Blair- Rs.1,00,000/-(received Cheque on 01.11.2018)
Further, during the financial year 2018-19 an amount of Rs.2,45,000/- was granted as financial assistance from Lt Governor’s Relief Fund to beneficiaries at instances by Ex-gratia relief for 2 persons @ Rs.1 Lac each -Rs.2,00,000/-Re-imbursement of embalming charges-Rs.35,000/-Token of appreciation to Sports person-Rs. 10,000/-
The amount so contributed is 100% deductible from taxable income under Section 80(G) of Income Tax Act, 1961. Willing citizens may contribute generously to Lt. Governor’s Relief Fund.
