30 candidates complete 3 months training in tailoring and fashion designing

Port Blair, Aug 01: The trainees trained by Unnati in Monica Usha Silai School prepared variety of Silai items (dresses) and for marketing of the products they displayed the products in an exhibition at Wimberlygunj on 01-08-2019 which was inaugurated by Mr. Satya Priyadarshi, Regional Manager, SBI followed by distribution of certificates to 30 candidates who completed their 3 months training in tailoring and fashion design trained with the support of Unnati and Usha International Ltd, New Delhi.

Smti. Monica welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. She mentioned that she trained more than 500 candidates so far with the support of Unnati and a few of them already set up their units and others are interested to adopt Silai (tailoring) as a self employment venture. 15 trainees jointly started a production centre by raising finance among them-selves. She stated that marketing of their products is main problem. Therefore, they set up a sale counter cum production centre and displaying their product in the exhibition which is the first step in this direction for publishing their products. For setting of sale counter cum production centre they need working capital as loan. She further said that the 30 trained candidates to whom certificates distributed today are also interested to avail individual loan for purchase of sewing machines and clothes etc. to start the work.

Mr. C. Mohammed, President Unnati in his speech congratulated the trainees for completing the tailoring and fashion designing training successfully and are keen to set up their own Silai units for their livelihood for which financial assistance can be availed from Bank on which Regional Manager may like to enlighten.

He also said the initiative of trainees to display their products for sale and efforts for opening of marketing outlet is also a welcoming step for which organization like NABARD may come forward. He also suggested the need to set up a Panchayat or Samiti level Coordination Committee for review of loan for setting up self employment units, effective implementation of self employment projects and to have real ground realities for detail review by the SLCC.

The Chief Guest after inauguration of exhibition of dresses for sale and distribution of certificates to 30 candidates who completed their tailoring and fashion designing course also addressed the participants and highly appreciated their initiative and interest for enhancing their earning to improve their socio-economic condition. He said that business you may start in small scale but it grow and flourish to any extend and sky is the limit. Its success depends on initiative, commitment and hard work. He further said empowerment of women is possible through self employment venture and for its success one has to put ones 100% commitment. Bank is ready to finance such committed group of women. He also mentioned that the way the Chief functionary of Unnati is working in his retired life is a great motivation to all of us. He assured his full support in extending financial support in setting up units.

Lead Bank officer Mr. Viyay Rao also mentioned about role of Lead Bank. Manager Co-operative Bank Mr. Nasir also spoke on this occasion.

Smti. Zubaida gave special thanks to Regional Manager SBI for accepting their invitation and for assuring all support in setting up their production cum sale counter and to Unnati for providing them such useful training in tailoring and fashion design besides time to time support and motivating them to take up this self employment venture. She also thanked all others who participated in the function.
