Awareness programme on Drug Abuse at GSSS Mannarghat By Humane Touch

 

Port Blair, Sept 29: Humane Touch in association with Directorate of Education has initiated an awareness campaign on alcoholism and drug abuse under Ferrargunj Tehail. Drug related issues have creeped to an alarming rate in the last few years in our islands. Drug related crimes are reported in the local daily/media frequently. These drugs eventually ends up in the hands of school children which is dangerous.To curb this burning issue Humane Touch has started this campaign in the last month.

At the second phase, Humane Touch has organised an awareness camp at GSSS Mannarghat in 28-9-19.

Mr. Mohammed Ali, Executive Member, Humane Touch welcomed the gathering and shed light on the burning issue.

The Principal, GSSS Mannarghat presided as chief guest in this occasion and highlighted the need of such awareness programmes among the students on regular intervals.

The resource person Mr.  V A Ashraf, Health Educator, PHC Wimberly Gunj briefed  the students about the ill effects and measures to keep away  drug addiction and how  to deal in such situations in the schools and  society.

Altogether 75 students participated in the event. The programme  concluded with the  vote of thanks proposed by K Asraf Executive Member, Humane Touch.
