General public urged to hand over hazardous waste (LED bulbs) to PBMC for re-cycling

Port Blair, Dec 3: The Port Blair Municipal Council is entrusted with the responsibility of providing clean and sanitized environment to the Port Blair citizens. To serve the above purpose, continuous efforts are being made by the sanitary workers of PBMC. While segregating dry waste, various LED electrical items viz tube lights, bulbs and tuning light are visible in many parts of the city. These electrical waste are hazardous which if discarded in the environment, without taking due care, may pollute both flora and fauna of these pristine Islands.

PBMC in its continuous efforts has come up with a solution to process such wastes for recycling and reusable purpose.

All concerned have been requested to hand over the fused LED electrical items viz tube lights, bulbs and tuning lights to sanitary workers approaching for door to door collection separately or may contact Cell no. 9531860539 (recycler) for its repair and re-use. A minimum charge will be incurred for rectifying the LED Bulbs.

PBMC has once again appealed to the Port Blair citizens to join hands with PBMC towards the 3R principle and make the city clean, green and hygienic.
