Observance of World AIDS Day on Dec 1 Rally to be held on Nov.30

Port Blair, Nov 28: In connection with the observance of World AIDS Day, a rally of school and college students will be held on Nov.30 at 6.30 am, which will be flagged off from Netaji Stadium by the chief guest, Principal Secretary Health, A&N Administration, Shri K. R. Meena in the presence of Secretary (Health), A&N Administration, Shri D. Manikandan and the Director of Health Services, A&N Administration, Dr. Omkar Singh as guests of honour.

 

Meanwhile, the A&N AIDS Control Society (ANACS) organized various activities under the guidance of Dr. M. Joy, Project Director, ANACS.  In the inter-school drawing/painting competition, Rashmi of class X A, Navy Children School secured the 1st position while Hyshathul Shabina of Crescent Public Sr. Sec. School and M Kanishma of class VIII A of SSS Khalsa Public School secured the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. In the Inter College Speech competition, the 1st position was bagged by Kausheen Shail from ANIIMS while B. Harshita of ANCOL and Saurav Dutta of TGCE secured the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

 

A folk performance, nukkad natak with messages on HIV & AIDS by Balakrishna Nritya Academy began from Nov. 21 and will continue upto Dec. 9. About 50 programmes will be conducted in different areas of N & M Andaman and South Andaman. Folk team will be accompanied by IEC Van, which will be disseminating audio messages on HIV/AIDS throughout its route.  In all the other Islands, community level programmes are being conducted by the Counselors of ANACS under the guidance of Medical Officers in-charge of 13 Integrated Counseling and Testing Center (ICTC) from Diglipur to Campbell Bay.
