IHRC’s Andaman Unit President demands senior doctors and specialists during the emergency call at CHC & District Hospitals

Port Blair, Mar 30: Mr. R Murugesan President, IHRC, A & N Circle, demanded availability of senior doctors, and specialist during the emergency calls at CHC & District hospitals as been practiced at GB PANT Hospitals in the larger public interest.
In a letter addressed to the Mr. Jitendra Narain, Chief Secretary A&N Administration Mr. R Murugesan President of IHRC said that “it has come to my knowledge from reliable source that senior doctors posted under DHS are not attending or doing the night calls in many Hospitals. All load for round the clock calls are being managed by the newly appointed NHM doctors or the doctors under DHS, who are of SMO or MO”.
He said that as per complaints received by IHRC, this type of practice are been done by almost all the CHC and District hospitals with few exceptions.
“My apprehensions are not that seniors doctors are avoiding the call duties, but the general public are deprived of the expertise and experience hand, for which they are paid a handsome salary” he added.
