Port Blair, Jan 22: The Revenue Department of South Andaman District carried out eviction drives against encroachments committed over Government land in South Andaman District during the month of December and January and restored an area of 3200 Sq. Mtrs approximately of Government land into Government Khata. As a part of Zero Tolerance towards encroachment, these eviction drives were conducted in various villages of Port Blair and Ferrargunj Tehsil.
During the last week the Tehsil Office, Port Blair and Tehsil Office Ferrargunj conducted eviction drives at various villages. The Tehsil Office Port Blair had conducted eviction drives at School line village, Aberdeen, Phoniex Bay, Pahargaon and Garacharama respectively. The Tehsil office Ferrargunj conducted eviction drive at Chouldhari village and removed encroachments in the shape of temporary fencings, permanent RCC structures in municipal areas and temporary structures. Revenue department has undertaken demolition drives for new illegal constructions.
The General Public is once again cautioned to refrain from encroaching Government land. Any kind of illegal occupations or construction shall be taken seriously and necessary proceedings shall be initiated under relevant sections of law.
